The short answer

Which Dubrovnik boat trip should you choose?

Choose by the time you have. With two hours, swim in the Blue Cave, see the Old Town walls from the sea or watch the sunset. With half a day, visit Koločep and Lopud on the Elafiti Islands. With a full day, add Šipan and lunch ashore. Every trip is private and priced per boat, not per person.

How to pick the right boat trip in Dubrovnik

Most visitors decide by the time they have left in Dubrovnik. A two-hour trip fits between a morning on the city walls and dinner. A half day leaves room for two islands and a long swim. A full day turns the sea into the main event of your holiday.

Then think about who is coming. Families and groups of friends love the Blue Cave and the island beaches. Couples tend to pick the Sunset Getaway. If you just want to see Dubrovnik from its best angle, the Old Town Panorama is calm and easy for every age.

  • 2 hours: Blue Cave, Old Town Panorama or Sunset Getaway, up to 6 guests
  • 4 hours: Elafiti Islands half day, Koločep and Lopud, up to 8 guests
  • 8 hours: Elafiti Islands full day with Šipan and lunch ashore, up to 8 guests

Private boat trip or a shared group tour?

Shared boat trips sell seats to strangers and follow a fixed timetable. On a private trip the boat is yours: you decide when to swim, how long to stay in a bay and when to head back.

Because the price is per boat, a family of five or a group of friends pays one price, not five tickets.

What is included on every trip

Every boat trip includes the boat, fuel and Captain Željko, a licensed Category B skipper. Juice, wine, rakija and beer are on board. On the Elafiti Islands trips you also get snacks and snorkel gear.

When is the best time for a boat trip in Dubrovnik?

The boating season peaks from June to August, when the sea is warmest and swim stops are the highlight of every trip. May, September and early October are quieter and still lovely on the water. Book a few days ahead in July and August, when dates go quickly.

Mornings are usually the calmest time for the islands and the caves. The Sunset Getaway leaves in the evening, and its starting time follows the sunset through the season.
